Chiltern Maritime
Unit G Deacons Marina
Bursledon Bridge
Southampton
SO31 8AW

Chiltern was initially set up to look after Officer Trainees on behalf of a large oil company. Their services expanded to include the management of the Trinity House Scholarship Cadet Scheme followed by the Maritime London Officer Cadet Scholarship (MLOS).

With your tuition and fees funded, as well as the allocation of a monthly bursary, your training will be completed in association with bespoke maritime training establishments within the UK, ensuring that you will be well prepared for your practical training onboard and eventual qualification to Officer of the Watch (OOW) standard.

The Maritime London Officer Cadet Scholarship (MLOCS) is a charity which provides the funds to enable young people to undertake the three to four year training required to become a Merchant Navy deck or engineer officer. The charity currently has 20 cadets aged between 16 and 23 at various stages of training.

MLOCS training is undertaken by Chiltern Maritime both at sea and at colleges in Glasgow, South Shields (Newcastle) or Warsash (Southampton). At the end of the cadetship, the trainees are free to choose their own career path.

The Trinity House Merchant Navy Scholarship Scheme is a similar cadet scholarship scheme available for UK residents. Trinity House provides major grants to maritime organizations engaged in welfare provision, education and training and the promotion of safety at sea. It is through this charity that the Trinity House Merchant Navy Scholarship Scheme is funded.
