South Shields Marine School and South Tyneside College offers Certificates of Competency courses for deck officers, engine officers and ETOs.
In addition to training Merchant Navy Officers and Crew for over 150 years the centre has worked with companies in the Marine and Ports sectors to develop Cadetships. The Cadetship will mean that most if not all of your course fees will be paid by a sponsoring company and you will also receive a monthly bursary to fund you through your studies. Programmes last for 3 years and are an alternating mix of college study and work based experience at sea.
South Shields Marine School offer cadetships in 3 disciplines: Deck Officer Trainee, Engineer Officer Trainee, and Electro-Technical Officer Trainee.
