Facts about Celebrity Cruises
Celebrity Cruises was founded in 1988 by Chandris Group in order to gain Bermuda Government contracts for two ships in 1990. Royal Caribbean Cruise Line (renamed Royal Caribbean Group in 2020) purchased the shares of Celebrity Cruises in 1997. But, the two companies, Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises would operate as two separate cruise lines under the Royal Caribbean Group umbrella. Celebrity Cruises fleet has grown to 14 cruise ships which includes three expedition vessels.
Celebrity Cruises employs an international crew with a nearly 2:1 guest to crew ratio and offers a more upscale product than its sister brand, Royal Caribbean International. Although primarily marketed to adult couples, their ships also feature children and teen facilities/programming. Celebrity Cruises is also an Authorized Apple Specialist at Sea. Passengers can also purchase Apple products duty-free and learn from the onboard iLounge Macologist.
