Azamara is a cruise line that operates three luxury cruise ships. The brand was previously owned by Royal Caribbean Group (parent of Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises), but now operates as an independent brand.
Facts About Azamara
Formed in 2007, the Azamara brand operated two 700-passenger ships that Royal Caribbean Group had acquired in the acquisition of Pullmantur Cruises. These were renamed Azamara Journey and Azamara Quest. In 2018, a third sister ship was added to the fleet, named Azamara Pursuit. It was acquired from P&O Cruises as the former Adonia.
In June 2019, Azamara Club Cruises changed its name and branding to Azamara, dropping the “Club Cruises” part of their name.
In January 2021, Royal Caribbean Group announced it would sell its Azamara brand to Sycamore Partners, a private equity investment firm. Sycamore Partners also announced in January 2021 that it would be acquiring the former Pacific Princess from Princess Cruises. In March 2021 the sale Azamara to Sycamore Partners was complete. It is expected to debut for Azamara in 2022.
Azamara’s Chief Operating Officer Carol Cabezas was appointed as President of the brand and Orlando Ashford (former President of Holland America) was hired as Executive Chairman.
In September 2021, Azamara announced that Starboard Cruise Services had become its fleetwide retail partner.
