As a division of Steiner Leisure, The Onboard Spa by Steiner operates the Spa Department onboard most of the major cruise ships at sea. Their website claims that they employ “over 2,000 spa, salon and fitness professionals every year”.
Their cruise line partners include Carnival Cruise Lines, Costa Cruises, Crystal Cruises, Disney Cruise Line, Holland America Line, Norwegian Cruise Line, P&O Cruises, Princess Cruises, Royal Caribbean International, Silversea Cruises, Windstar Cruises and many others.
Steiner’s history includes opening its first hair salon at sea on board Cunard’s Queen Mary in 1967, followed by the Queen Elizabeth II. Over the years, Steiner added treatment rooms to their salons and then fitness facilities, which marked the origin of its commitment to overall beauty and wellness. In 1994, Steiner purchased Coiffeur Transocean and became known as Steiner Transocean Limited and is now known as The Onboard Spa by Steiner.
Today, Steiner-operated spas are exquisitely designed relaxation facilities that emphasize spa treatments for the face and body, comprehensive fitness programs, and alternative health care such as Acupuncture, Chiropractic services and medi-spa treatments.
Their largest spas include Thermal Suites, Thalassotherapy Pools, Relaxation Areas, 20 treatment rooms that overlook the ocean, couple’s rooms, large fitness centres, barber shops, and hair and nail salons.
Steiner only hires fully-qualified staff in the positions of Spa Manager, Hair Stylist, Barber, Beauty Therapist, Nail Technician, Massage Therapist, Acupuncturist, Medi-Spa Physician, Spa Receptionist, and Personal Trainer.
Onboard Spa recruits globally and offers interview dates throughout the year. For more information about Onboard Spa by Steiner, visit their website.
