Today Saga Cruises announced that all guests must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 before travelling with their company. They are the first cruise line in the industry to require guests to be have the vaccine in order to cruise with them.

What are Their New Vaccine Rules?

Their new vaccine guidance is that all guests should have received both doses and waited for full immunity to take effect. Therefore, they will require that all their guests have received both doses of the vaccine no later than 14 days prior to departure.

To allow their guests sufficient time to be fully vaccinated, Saga Cruises has decided to delay the restart of their cruise programme. The Spirit of Adventure will now start its inaugural voyage on May 4, 2021 and the Spirit of Discovery will now sail on June 2, 2021.

Additional Health Measures for Cruise Passengers

For the May and June sailings, Saga Cruises has put additional measures in place. These include pre-departure screening t the terminal for guests, a reduced capacity of guests onboard (max. 800), increased crew to guest ratio, enhanced cleaning regimes onboard, additional enhancements to their air conditioning, and expanded medical facilities.

As for crew members, their website reads, “We have comprehensive COVID-19 protocols in place to protect our crew, including quarantine and regular testing and as soon as crew can be vaccinated, they will be.”
