Even prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, there was always at least one doctor and nurse on each cruise ship. With new health regulations, most cruise lines are increasing the number of medical staff they have onboard. For example, the Royal Caribbean Group’s Healthy Sail Panel recommendations states that,
“As a part of augmenting onboard medical capacity to ensure preparedness for potential
COVID-19 cases, cruise operators should increase their existing ratios of medical
personnel to guests and crew.”
Cruise lines have begun sailing worldwide, and as capacity of their ships increase and more ships come back into service, the need for more doctors and nurses is required. Additionally, a Public Health Officer is new cruise ship job that has been added by many of the cruise lines.
