  1. Hi, I am 21 year old Australian, post graduate in business and Hotel Management. I am wanting to start working within luxury yachts and small cruise liners within the next four months.

Do you have any recommendations for Australian based agencies that i should look into?

    Thank you!!

  2. Hello mam… I M Sourav from India, currently working in a star hotel, since only 6 month in F&B,wanna know what is the minimum experience required to join a big line like RC cruise line? and what is the minimum salary I would be paid as an entry-level position? Thank you.

    • Even with your minimal experience in F&B, you should still apply for an entry level position. Salaries range based on the country you are from and the amount of experience you have. The range can be between $500 USD per month to $1,500 USD per month for entry level positions. Plus, some positions are entitled to a percentage of the tip pool. Royal Caribbean and other major cruise lines use a global network of hiring partners to assist with their recruitment needs. Check out our Directory of Hiring Partners in India.

  3. Hello,
i was working with a concessionary company and was about to be rehired. I’m from Mexico; I got my LOE, got my visa and my medicals. Once I send them all, the company told me that the requirements for the medicals had change (now a need to do them all over again). But they inform me this ONLY after I did everything, I expend money and time, and they don’t even answer me! not even a single “sorry” email.
The lady who contacted me first just told me “we need you medical and visa”, so I did that, following the instructions of my first contract.
Please, is there a support website for this cases? Anything I could possibily do?

    Thank you very much.
I just do not know what to do.

    • Unfortunately, some recruiters don’t have the best telephone manners. Many are highly unorganized and some truly make crewmembers feel like a number. That said, there are many recruiters and hiring partners that are pleasant, helpful, organized and do their job very well. Don’t let this turn you off. You still need to be professional and do what they require (if if they have given you the wrong information). Typically, once you get on board, let the onboard human resources manager/director know about this and they will try to sort it out for you. As for the immediate outlay of funds for medicals and visas, unfortunately this is a cost to the crewmember. Some crewmembers are reimbursed based on their contract – many are not. As far as doing the medical over again – get them to send you the “new” forms that they need completed (if they are different than the ones you previously completed). Take them to the doctor that you recently had your medical done and explain that your employer gave you the wrong form to fill out. Maybe the doctor may give you a break in the cost. Or possibly there is an additional test that needs to be done that wasn’t completed during the last visit.

  4. I had a Skype interview with American Cruise Lines recently. I feel it went really well, but I have a tattoo on my forearm. She continued with the interview but I don’t know if this will be a problem. Do you think they will go through with the process?

    • Typically cruise lines do not mind about tattoos as long as they can be covered by your uniform (sleeves, socks, etc).

  5. Dear Mam,

      • Hello ma’am i have only one question.do have any idea how much is the expected salary of snack attendant and mess attendant in rccl.thank yoy very much in advance

        • Salaries range based on the country you are from and the amount of experience you have. The range can be between $500 USD per month to $1,500 USD per month. Plus, I’m not sure if this position qualifies for a percentage of the tip pool.

  6. Good Morning
I would like to become a Hiring partner or Authorised referral source for the cruise ships but am finding it very difficult contacting anyone from the cruise ships who can help. I am particularly interested in Royal Caribbean, Norwegian and Msc. Would you have any contact details for anyone on the ships who would deal with this?

    Your help would be appreciated.

    Kind Regards

    • To become a hiring partner for a cruise line, you would need to contact the cruise lines’ HR departments in their respective head offices for more info.

  7. Hello,

My name is John and I’ve worked in the cruise ships for more than a decade. Ive worked for many companies as a Purser -I’ve done all the positions in the Purser’s dpt- until i finally became a Chief Purser/Financial Controller in 2000. My last contract was in 2006 as a Financial Controller onboard GTS Constellation of Celebrity Cruises.
I left the cruise ships then for personal reasons and now that I’m trying to get back i can’t get even an interview.
In addition I’m an Australian citizen and its a fact that we don’t have many recruiters here in Australia.
I dont understand why this is happening and i would like to have your opinion on this matter.
    Thank you

    • It has been 10 years since your last contract. I’m sure that you are still qualified to work onboard, but it may be tough to get back onboard in a senior position as you left. Technology and the way things work onboard today are quite different than 10 years ago. When applying, don’t let your resume make you seem outdated. Have you been working in hotels/banking/hospitality since you left the cruise industry? Here are a few hiring partners in Australia . Also check out the Global Hiring Partners.

      • Hello again and thank you for your reply. Well first of all although my last contract onboard a ship was back in 2006 I didn’t leave the shipping industry until the end of 2009.
I was a ship agent for almost 3 years for 2 ports in Europe (one of them was Piraeus in Greece which is one of the biggest and busiest ports in Europe).
Although things change as technology gets more advanced the truth is that in our department (Pursers/Financial) everything has remained the same apart from some regulations/policies.
I’m in contact with many Financial Controllers in the Celebrity Cruises (many of them were trained by me) and almost everything has remained the same.
But my surprise is that I haven’t receive an offer even for a lower position such as a first purser or crew relations manager etc.
The last 6 years I’ve been a Managing Director for a Hair and Beauty salon in Melbourne.
I’ve emailed most of these recruiters you’ve send me except a couple of them.
        Thank you

        • When you say “emailed most of these recruiters”, I’m assuming that you’ve sent complete resume and cover letters, being specific with the cruise line and cruise job you are applying for. If you have only sent general queries with your experience, I doubt you will get any interest from recruiters. Then, you need to be persistent and follow up with these hiring partners. Make sure you have also completed a recent online application with cruise lines such as Celebrity Cruises that has this option. You may want to use some of your Financial Controller contacts for an inside track into finding the HR person’s name in Celebrity’s head office that may be responsible for hiring for the Pursers’ Department.

  8. Dear Madam ,
    Good Day !
Madam my name is Himmat I have been approved to join to RCL. as a Bartender. I have cleared my interview on 30th December 2015 it’s almost 3 months back.i have done all formalities like STCW,PCC .
But medical & visa interview is still pending .when I contacted to one of agency’s coordinator she told me for keeping patience & will call u for medical & visa process after coming joining date. So Madam I would like to ask how many more days it takes to get joining date after successful interview & Is it guaranteed I will get joining date in RCL.or is there any chances not get joining date? I am in dilema about it as well as excited to join.
So please help in this regard. .
I will be eagerly waiting for ur response ..
    Thank u ..
    Have a nice day….
    Himmat

    • Your situation is common. The recruiters over hire as they are constantly needing new crew (due to turnover and new ships). continue to be patient and send courteous emails possibly every couple of weeks. You want to stay on their radar. In the meantime, figure out where the closest US Embassy/Consulate to you is and take a look at the application process on line. that way, once you are given the go ahead to apply, you will be ready.

      • Respected Madam !!
Thank you so much for giving the precious time .

Madam I would like to ask one more question please kindly reply.
How much more time it will take to get joining date ?
& is it guaranteed one day I will get joining date 100%?

        • This varies with each applicant. It depends on the need of the cruise line at any given time. Considering the amount of crewmembers required by a cruise line and a particular ship, there is always some sort of rotation. You may wait another week, you may wait a few months or more. What is important is that you stay in touch with your recruiter, making sure that they know you are keen and available.

  9. Hello Dear, Greeting of the Day!!! I am Mr. Novel Sarai from India (Mumbai). I have recently submitted my application for the post of Assistant Waiter in RCCL. I have given subsequent interviews with RCCL.

I have successfully passed that interview in January 2016 and at the the time of the interview they confirmed me that i have passed that interview and i will get further instruction regarding procedure to join the vessel within one week. At the time of the interviewer had enquired about my Tatto. I have shown a small star Tatto which is there on my wrist, and they have also told me that this Tatto would not be an issue for joining.

However i have not received any information till now. Can I get any information if they have rejected my application because of this Tatto.

I would appreciate if anyone will help me on this

    • If the recruiter said that the tattoo would not be an issue, then I’m sure that it won’t be a problem. Even on the RCCL websites, they state, “we ask our employees to cover any visible tattoos when in uniform”. Also, if the recruiter said that you passed the interview process, then now all you need to do is patiently wait. Continue to keep in touch with the recruiter, reconfirming that you are available and eager to work for them.

  13. Hi, good day! I’m from the Philippines, 27, male. This blog finds me very well and sooo grateful to have this. I’v e heard that every cruise ship has an environmental management system to deal with. And an Environmental Officer has an integral role to play on this matter. I have a Masters degree in Environmental Science and have some few work experiences in environmental related jobs especially in the research and development. I am really interested to work someday in this new kind of setting. As for a favor, can you give me a link for this? How tight is the competition on this job and how many Environmental Officer/s in every cruise ship (average)? Thank you very much for your kind response. Cheers.

  14. Hello madam

My name is Jahangir khan from india
I have passed my all interviews with royal Caribbean and i have approved as a casual dining waiter onboard.
I jad my final interview on 27th January 2016.and after that I’m getting in touch wd one of rcl coordinator name Ariana calamba.
And still waiting for my ship assignment.
But she advised me against my request email for stcw course and seasman book.

Just wanna know which type of seasman book i need to apply.
And do i need to apply now or wait for my ship assignment?

    Thank you

    • Congratulations on your successful interviews! Getting a ship assignment can happen quickly but some applicants report having had to wait weeks or even months for their contract. If your rccl coordinator has advised to not get the seamans book yet, listen to her. She should assist with helping you get your seamans’ book as well as organize any STCW courses that you may need.

    • Thank you very much madam

I have already signed my offer letter and contract letter.
The only thing is remaining the schedule from scheduler and letter of employment.

After that i may able to apply my appropriate visa and seaman’s book from my home country.
I just want to about the waiting process for an assignment or ship joining letter.

      • The waiting process for a ship assignment varies depending on the cruise line’s demand. Generally, if you already have an offer letter or contract letter, you can apply for your visa. Once you have the visa then you will be assigned a ship. The seaman’s book can be issued after you join a ship – that’s not as crucial.

  15. Dear Madam,
Could you tell me have you had Cadet Programm on board Cruise Ships?

  16. Dear Madam,
Is the ability to swim a hiring condition on cruise ships?
    Thank you.

    • No, but you will have to pass a marine medical.

  17. hi just wanna ask to where i can find or to where i can get my id number on my profile on c trac because i need this to start my hiring process right?

    • You need to create an account on the Royal Caribbean C-TRAC website. There you will enter your personal info including your email address and you will also create your own password for the C-TRAC site.

  18. Hello!
My name is A,alia, I am 25 years old. I am interpreter/ translator/teacher by profession (English, Italian, Russian). I live in Israel (Tel Aviv) at the moment, but originally I am from Ukraine.
I am looking for a job on cruise liner.
Let me know, please, if you have any suitable position for me.

    Thank you in advance,
    Sincerely,
    Amalia

    • Language skills are a great asset for cruise ship jobs because they complement work experiences. If you have also worked with kids, then your experience as a teacher would make you a suitable candidate for the job as Youth Staff. Depending on other hospitality skills you may have, you could consider Guest Services. Most cruise lines use a network of hiring partners to assist with their recruitment needs. Contact an authorized hiring partner in Ukraine or Israel.

  19. Hello,

  20. Hi there!

I’m trying to land a job on cruise but up until now im having a hard time to be hired. Most of the agencies that I visited rejected me due to lack of experience. Im willing to be trained or get some training if needed. I do have the necessary documents for my application. Im 26 years old and I need some advice. Thank you

    • Getting hired to work on cruise ships is competitive because people apply from all over the world. Cruise lines choose the best qualified candidates. But, follow-up on your application is also extremely important. What job have you been applying for and what type of experience do you have?

  21. Good day! I would like to ask how many years should my experience to be able to qualify in working on the kitchen specifically being a pastry chef. And is it okay if chefs will have visible tattoos since they are not in direct contact with the guest. Thank you!

    • There are many levels of cooks/chefs working onboard cruise ships. Apply through an authorized hiring partner in your country of residence. As far as tattoos go, you will need too cover them in order to work onboard, regardless of the position you work.

  22. Hello, lm currenty styding in Taiwan but originaly Im from Russia. I have half a year experience as manager-trainee in 5 stars hotel and bachalor doploma in Management, Economics and Accounting. I can sppeak English, Mandarin and Russian and I really willing to find onboard job especially related with chinese. I dont wanna go back to my country due to some reasons. Is it possible to go through interview online or around my region? What king of job l can apply for?

    • Your language skills are something the major cruise lines find to be a valuable asset. Cruise lines such as Royal Caribbean and Princess Cruises are expanding their itineraries in China and need crew that can speak Chinese. Typically you need to apply through a hiring partner located in your country of residence. Since you are currently in Taiwan, here are the Hiring Partners in Taiwan that you can contact. You could also contact the Hiring Partners in Russia. Also, here is a link to the Global Cruise Line Hiring Partners.

  24. Hi,

I was just wondering if you know about problems with the PEME for Royal Caribbean. I had my original medical with one of their approved medical centres back in January. The medical results were all fine apart from I have a slightly high calcium level. They have sent me back to get more tests, all of which I got the clear for. Now though they are asking for a letter from an endocrinologist confirming that I am fit for duty. I am finding this all extremely stressful as this is a dream for me to work for the Royal Caribbean. They have now pushed my joining date back 4 times by a week each time. The approved medical centre and my GP say there is nothing wrong with me its just their PEME that still wont clear me. Would they not clear me over something that is seen as not an issues by everyone I seen? Also if I do pass eventually would Royal Caribbean reimburse all my medical bills that I’ve mounted up over the past month.

Any advice would be great. Thank you!

    • The pre-employment medicals for the major cruise lines can be exhausting and time-consuming. Unfortunately, this is a pre-requisite to get hired. As far as being reimbursed for medical costs, this would be something that you would need to ask your recruiter since it will vary with employee contracts.

  25. Hi, I am Guillermo Hermosa, I am 57 years of age I am a previous crew of various cruise ship Company. My question is, Do I have a chance to be on board with your company?

  26. Hello Cruisejob,
Under Documents section on my CTRAC accounts it indicate that ”No Documents Available Yet” since 2nd feb when it started is it something to do with my process or something wrong? because am not see all the documents i upload. am from Kenya

    Thank you.

  27. Hi! I’m a Licensed Electronics Engineer and Licensed Electronics Technician from Philippines and currently looking for an entry-level job opportunity at a cruise ship.
I’m wondering what experiences or requirements do I need to apply as an Electro-Technical Engineer Officer or any Cadet Engineer? Do I need to work at a local cargo vessel or others here at our country first before I can apply for international positions? Thank you! Hoping for your kind response.

    • Have a look at the article, How to Apply as a Cruise Ship Engineering officer. One problem you may encounter is that very few women apply/get hired for the technical departments. Since cadets must share a cabin there may not be another female cadet. Whereas, 3rd officers have their own cabin. So if you don’t get hired as a cadet then once you get some experience try again as a 3rd officer.

  28. hello dear sir/madam

my name is Devendu roy,m from India, i am 44 yrs old and i have 15 years experience in F&b industries.

i just wanna know about is there any possibility to apply in a cruise job in with rccl. for 44 years old guy.

i have a hotel management and 15 years exp with 7 years abroad exp.

    thank you

    • Although the job is very physical with long hours, if you can prove to a recruiter that you are capable with lots of energy, your age shouldn’t be a problem. Yes, the average age is much younger, but there are “older” crew onboard as well.

  29. Greetings, am Richard l was offered an a assist-waiter job from Royal Caribbean cruise. So l took the offer.got my C-TRAC documents,my medical, police clearance, visa C1d, and finally few days ago I book my flight to Tampa Florida to join my ship Brilliance of the sea.then unfortunately today morning I get an email from my coordinator that my application as been cancelled due to business issues. So why does it take all that longtime over month since l was offered a letter of employment to tell me the last minutes that my application has been cancelled,l have acquired all my travel n work documents. What was the real issue

    • I’m not sure. Are you working with a recruiter from an agency. which country are you from?

  30. Hello.

I had my final interview with Royal Caribbean International yesterday and have received my offer letter and a disclosure form to sign online. But I do have some concerns and would like to know how long a period I can leave these unsigned before the offer expires. I do not want to start a process I would be forced to not complete as I am sure this will be viewed as dishonest by the company as I would view it myself.
Also my offer for a bartender position states a guaranteed monthly income of just over 1200 USD a month which is not a very encouraging amount. I understand that a large percentage of earnings are from tips but I cannot seem to find any decent sources online from employees about what to reasonably expect.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

    • the recruiters will wonder why you don’t want to sign immediately as most applicants are very anxious to get onboard. $1200 USD per month is actually a fair estimate of your earnings.

      • Do you have any reliable sources as to the average tips received for this position?
Of course it will vary but I would like a number, or a range of numbers. Can you help?
Do you know the period the acceptance letter can be left unsigned?

I hope you can help with what I do not know.

        Thank you.

        • There isn’t a specific period that the letter can be left unsigned. Like I said previously, recruiters have hundreds of applicants that are willing to sign as soon as they receive the letter. the longer you wait, you risk there not being a job for you. As far as wages, I can’t give any specifics because it depends on how much you sell. If they are guaranteeing $1200, that is fair for that position.

          • Maybe you misunderstood. The wage is 1200, but I am asking about a tips estimate.
For example, “bartenders on RCI ships have been known to earn between *** and *** in tips, or between *** and *** including tips according to my sources”

          • Sorry if I wasn’t clear enough. I’ll try to explain again. When a cruise line says that you are guaranteed a certain wage this sometimes means that your salary may be between $600 and $1,000 and you will also be paid tips. Your tips are 15% of whatever a passenger purchases from you. Some cruises have passengers that drink more than others. Sometimes you may be placed in a bar that has low traffic. The $1,200 that the cruise line is guaranteeing means that even if you work a cruise where the tips aren’t very good, you’ll still make $1,200 even if you actually made less. the upside is that if you work in a high traffic bar, upsell, and therefore sell lots, the amount you make can be considerable higher. It really depends on you, the bars you work, how much the guests drink, etc. I know some bartenders that make over $2,000 per month. It is possible. As for other cruise lines, there isn’t always such a high guaranteed wage (closer to $600 to $1,000 – also depends onn what country you are from) which means if you don’t sell you don’t make much more than your base wage. Hopefully this clears things up.

  31. Hi! Good day! Im a dancer here in Philippines and im planning to audition in RCCL as a dancer but i hernia, i have this since i was a child and before i started dancing, I am dancing now for almost 10 years and it doesnt affect my dancing. Will i still be able to work in RCCL even if i have henia? Or should i undergo operation? Hope you can help me with this because i really want to dance with RCCL. Thank you. ☺

    • If it doesn’t affect your dancing, than it shouldn’t be a problem. You do need to consider that the work life onboard is very intense with an average of 11+ hours on your feet. As a dancer you will be required to do rehearsals as well as the shows. You will be required to pass a medical prior to joining as well.

  32. HI! Good Day,,!! i just wanted to ask about grooming standards as a waiter is it really true that a waiter should not have a visible tattoos to get hired,,just for example i have a tattoo in my right arm,,?those this mean i cant apply for a waiter position?? thank you and i hope you`d reply with this inquire,…

    • Typically, as long as you are able to cover the tattoo, it is usually acceptable. for example, the tattoo on your arm would have to be covered by a sleeve.

  33. Hi good day, I’m from Philippines, I want to apply as a Security Guard in Royal Caribbean, what could be the possible requirements to apply?

    • Here is the link to the Royal Caribbean security jobs. Then, on the RCI webpage click on the link for security guard then click on the “apply on line” link. this will give you all the job requirements.

      • Hello Ma’am,
I have been offered a Retail Job From a Recruitment Company in India for 995$+ Incentives.
Though I understand, that I will sure be paid the Basic Salary and I also know Incentives depends purely on my Sales performance. I just want to know what does a Watch Specialist normally earns on Average Salary including Incentives.
One more very important question is, what is the Maximum Age Limit to work on Retail Shops. I am 35 yrs of age now, and I am not tired of 10+ hours of standing job. I AM PRETTY USED TO IT. But, you know age does takes toll on your physical wellbeing. As of the Economic Crisis going now, we have to compromise ourselves for our Family to give them better lifestyle.
I would like to work until I become 40 yrs. But, the reason I asked the maximum is, as I know I can take a Break between Contracts and join back again. Please reply .

        • Are you working with one of Starboard Cruise Services’ hiring partners? If you’re offered $995 + incentives this is a fair salary. My sources indicate that a sales associate earns between $1,000 and $3,000 in total (salary plus bonuses) per month. The answer to your second question, although there isn’t a maximum age limit to work onboard, as long as you continue to perform and pass the employment medicals, you should be able to retain your job. Just to be clear about your vacation/leave period, you typically don’t get to choose how long you stay home. Generally you will work 6 months and your at home for 45 to 60 days. The company tells you which ship you are going on, for what period, when you will go home, and when you will come back.

  34. Good morning mam.my name is arun.i applied for the post of cleaner in royal Caribbean cruise. But i hav 2 tatoo on my body one is on left hand arm and other one is on right hand forearm. It will effect on my job selection. Kindly advise.

  35. Hi there, I am the Manager of Australia’s leading and international Michael Jackson Tribute Artist (TJ). I would like to apply to numerous cruiseship lines and offer this world class act for entertainment. Can you guide me to the appropriate channels for contact. Many thanks.

  36. Good Morning Mam, My name is Karan Mishra. I was selected for NCL in a position of Assistant Cook. My pre employment process is going on and I have some queries regarding that.
I want to know STCW course is required for assistant cook prior joining the vessel or I will get Basic Safety Training once I will join vessel onboard.
One of my friend who is working for NCL Gem told me that he got training onboard and STCW course is not required as of now but after joining the ship.
I need some expert advice thats why I mailed you and I hope you will help me to the best knowledge.

    Thanking You.

    • Although all the cruise lines provide emergency training and conduct drills once you are onboard, your manning agent will organize STCW courses for you if they are required prior to you joining or in the future.

  37. Hi my name is Kayla Alicia Flowers I apply last year when the team came to recruit people in Belize city. I was studying at that time but I still went and apply and they call me up for an interview for the carnival cruise line. I wasn’t selected because I told them I want to finish my studies first at the university in Belize I am finishing now I will be graduating this February the 6th with my bachelors in Tourism Management. I send a email already to them at [email protected] but didn’t get any respond from them I really want to work on the cruise ship in either housekeeping, hotel steward or working with the kids. I went to work for Disney for my internship in 2014 in the food and beverage area but I really want something different. Do you know by any chance if they will come back at Belize city to recruit new people they told me last year they might come back this year. How can I contact them an find out from them I was trying to call them but since I am from Belize I find it very hard to contact them. Can you help me thanks. Hope to hear from you very soon.

    • Some of the cruise lines now conduct interviews via Skype. Try again sending your resume to the hiring partner you were dealing with before. If you were interviewed last year, then they may still have you on file. But, consider that you probably need to start from scratch with the interviewing process again. In the Subject Line of the email put the job you are applying for. Recruiters like to see that you are focused on applying for a specific job. In the text of the email make sure you mention your diploma/degree, your English skills, and the fact that you are ready to start work. Looking at the email address, it looks like you were dealing with Persohotel International. They are located in Mexico and are a Certified Hiring Partner of Azamara Club Cruises, Celebrity Cruises, Royal Caribbean International, Carnival Cruise Lines, Disney Cruise Line and Starboard Cruise Services. Try using the email address that I’ve provided in the link.

      • Ok thank you but I already send my email to the address in the link but no respond from the first week in January I send it but no respond as yet.

        • Sometimes the wait can be frustrating, but continue to be persistent and follow up on your emails if you don’t hear anything.

  38. Good Day

I’m 22 years old currently working in the States as an au pair/nanny for my second year, I’m originally from South Africa and will be returning home Nov 2016. I’m really interested in working on a cruise ship , I have at least 2 years sales( Boutique and Gym Sales) experience and as I just said 2 year child care experience I was thinking I want to maybe work as a future cruise consultant/ gift shop assistant or with the kids. but I don’t have any qualifications in those fields , just the experience and the training while working. Is this gonna hold me back too much or is there something I can do before next year to boost my resume.? plus where exactly do I start and how long would the process take is it best to wait until I go back to SA go see a recruitment agency or should I see one here in the states I currently live in CT area. I don’t know much about which ships are best but I figured the agency should help with that any recommendations on which agency is best. I finally hope to find a job somewhere in 2017 would this be possible?

Thanks in advance for all the help.

    Kind Regards

    • You would probably be more successful applying as either a Gift Shop Associate or as Youth Staff. Click on the links for how to apply. Typically the Cruise Sales Consultant is a position held by someone with prior ship experience and extensive sales background. As far as applying while you are in the US. I would start the process, but use one of the South Africa agencies, because that is where you are from. You can also apply online the cruise lines’ employment pages. Check out our Cruise Line Employment Info pages for links to most of the cruise lines. Keep in mind that the gift shop position is considered a concessionaire for some of the cruise lines, so applying directly with Starboard or Harding Retail is also recommended.

  39. hello madam, my name is karan from india and i want to know that can i get a job on cruise liner without having a school certificate only experience in hotels. and yes i can read ,write and speak english . plaese help me how is that possible this is my dream to get a job onboard and i can do anything

    • Hi Karan, your hotel experience and knowledge of the English language is far more valuable than a diploma when it comes to getting an entry level cruise ship job. Start with checking out the Authorized Hiring Partners in India. Each hiring partner assists various cruise lines with the recruitment process. Have a good idea of which cruise ship job you are applying for, though. Just a tip, though…recruiters actually don’t like when you say “I can do anything”. They want to see that you are focused and applying for one specific job.

  40. hello Dear mam i hope your are fine dear Mam i did not get a job on any ship when i went to any compny for apply that job they want money i told you last time kindly help me Mam what i do i dnt have money please help me Mam give me any compny number who give a job of without money thank you Mam

    • All the major cruise lines warn on their employment sites to beware of employment scams. For example, Royal Caribbean/Celebrity Cruises pays their hiring partners for their services and does not allow the collection of administrative fees, agency fees, or processing fees from job applicants. Once approved by a Recruiter, there are costs involved with joining the ship (passport, seaman’s books, national identification documents, medicals, airlines tickets, certifications and license as required for the position) but there is no fee associated with obtaining an interview, position or ship assignment with the company. If you successfully complete all of the requirements and are able to join your assigned ship, the cost of travel visa(s) will be reimbursed once you join the ship, services charges or associated fees for obtaining the visa are not eligible for reimbursement.

  41. Hello Good day, I would like to ask if there’s any possible job for me in this area. I am a teacher with a teaching license. I am really interested in working in a cruise ship. Is there any available job for a teacher like me ?

  42. Dear Sir,

My name is Himansu, I’m from India.

I have been selected as a Housekeeping Jr. Stateroom Steward for Norwegian Cruise Line.

I have a query and I know you will help me out.

Sir I want to know that for a position of Housekeeping Stateroom Steward STCW Course is required??

Or They will take STCW Course training onboard??

I have read one article posted by someone, where thay have stated that STCW course is required for NCL but it happens onboard.

Please help me and quide me.

Thanks for your time and consideration.

    Warm Regards,

    Himansu

    • For technical positions such as deck and technical departments, STCW courses are required prior to joining. For Stateroom Steward, typically you will receive basic safety training once onboard. For a specific answer, you should contact the NCL hiring partner that you are working with.

    • Hi ma’am.I just want to ask if I am welcome to apply as a cleaner to royal Caribbean even Im just a secondary graduate,I’m currently working in Singapore from Philippines and I’m interested to apply as cleaner I can speak in English well, have confident that I can do well the tasks of a cleaner…thanks

  43. Hi!

I am originally from Malaysia, and i have some questions about the application process. I was asked to write my name on the form which I was told is an offer letter before the face to face interview in a hotel, and my interviewer is director of hotel, carnival cruise line. 1-2 weeks after the interview a guy from CTI group said carnival cruise line offered me the position of assistant waiter, and sent me a picture of the form which I wrote my name in before the interview, and said it’s my offer letter. He then sent me another picture and explained to me about the joining costs. As u can see, it is sooooo expensive! It’s gonna cost me around 4k Malaysian ringgit before I can start working.

    CTI (optional fees)-250usd
    Marlins test (english)-RM80
    Letter of good conduct-RM20
    Medical check for seaman’s book-RM185(M)/RM195(F)
    Collection of seaman’s book/card-RM80
    STCW training-RM2120
    Pre-employment medical exam-RM1500-RM1700
    Visa application-RM300-RM700
    Air flight ticket-RM1500-RM4000

I was told that I have to pay all the costs listed above, and I will only be reimbursed for visa application in two months after I go on board, as well as a return ticket after the completion of the work. I thought the cruise line will provide the training ? because it’s a basic safety course…I dont know if the medical exam n the training course are really that expensive.. Can I by any chance do the medical exam and training by myself? as I was told that CTI charge service fee for assisting me with the process. and I’m sceptical about one more thing, it sounds to me like they usually get candidates to pay the joining costs before sending them a detailed offer letter where they’ll mention about the route, terms n conditions etc. I am really frustrated here as I’ve been busy working at the moment, do nobody around me has experience working on cruise ship..and I don’t know if I am being scammed…Your response will be very much appreciated!

    Thanks!
    Jenson

    • Hi Jenson, I’m glad that you are aware of the possibility of being scammed because some people are not aware that this can happen. First of all, CTI Group is an authorized recruiter for Carnival Cruise Line and Royal Caribbean. But you need to figure out if you are actually working with CTI Group or a company that could be impersonating CTI Group. You can do this by making sure you are using the right email address and that correspondence is coming from legit email addresses. As far as I know, CTI Group does not represent Carnival Cruise Line in Malaysia (according to Carnival Cruise Line’s hiring partner pages). Royal Caribbean uses CTI Group to recruit applicants from Malaysia, but they use their Bali, Indonesia office. Please verify that you are using one of the email addresses that are listed on the cruise lines websites.

Another point to consider, before you can go get a C1D1 Visa you would need a letter of employment/job offer to take to the US Embassy. Here is what the Royal Caribbean states on their website (which would be a similar policy for Carnival):

“Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. pays their hiring partners for their services and does not allow the collection of administrative fees, agency fees, or processing fees from job applicants. Once approved by a Recruiter, there are costs involved with joining the ship (passport, seaman’s books, national identification documents, medicals, airlines tickets, certifications and license as required for the position) but there is no fee associated with obtaining an interview, position or ship assignment with the company. If you successfully complete all of the requirements and are able to join your assigned ship, the cost of travel visa(s) will be reimbursed once you join the ship, services charges or associated fees for obtaining the visa are not eligible for reimbursement.”

  44. Hello. I am a 56 year old widower and my kids are all grown and all but one are out of the house. I don’t own a house, just rent an apartment. I’ve never worked on a ship before but think that it might be for me. I’ve read that it’s hard, work, long hours and terrible accommodations. Other than that, you get to see the world and eat for free. There are too many sites that are out dated and provide unreliable information. I figured if I start applying now then maybe in year I may have something. Thinking that a gift shop or similar might me good for me. Can you provide a few valid and reliable links?

    • Yes, it is hard work and long hours. Accommodations are typically shared and small if that’s what you mean by terrible. Contracts are typically around 6 to 9 months in length. You could apply for a Gift Shop Associate position, here is a link to How to Apply to Cruise Ship Jobs in the Gift Shop. Other positions if you have sales experience would be Port and Shopping Guide or Future Cruise Sales Consultant/Manager. Both of the jobs come with their own cabin. I will be adding more content in the near future regarding both of those jobs, but in the meantime if you have any other specific questions, you can ask them on this forum.

  45. hi i live in trinidad but from guyana just wanted too know if same cruises company in future do interview in trinidad for food and beverage jobs and if yes when and some location please thanks

  46. Dear Sir/Ma’am,

My name is Himansu Bawari. I have been selected as a Housekeeping Jr. Stateroom Steward for Norwegian Cruise Line.

I have a query and I know you will help me out.

I want to know that for a position of Housekeeping Stateroom Steward STCW Course is required??

Or They will take STCW Course training onboard??

I have read one article, where it was stated that STCW course is not required for NCL/RCCL/CCL for Hotel Operations and they take STCW training on board.

Please help me and quide me.

Thanks for your time and consideration.

    Warm Regards,

    Himansu Bawari

    • For technical positions such as deck and technical departments, STCW courses are required prior to joining. For Stateroom Steward, typically you will receive basic safety training once onboard. For a specific answer, you should contact the NCL hiring partner that you are working with.

  47. hii I am frm India I had rejct for c1 d viza and I ws selected from nowerigen cruise line is there any other option for viza or my job had gone

    • Unfortunately, most of the major cruise lines require crewmembers to be able to obtain a US C1D1 Visa. For a foreign national outside of US or Canada it is required to have this visa inorder to transit through a US city. You may want to try a cruise line that only cruises in Europe such as a river cruise company. Do you know why your visa was rejected…lack of information, incomplete application, invalid passport…? If that’s the case you could apply again. If it is due to something more serious such as past criminal activities, it may not be possible.

  48. Good day! Mam. I always desire for working in a cruise liner. I feel the rank 3rd engineer best suits for me. I have certificate of competency(class 3). I completed my bachelor in maritime science engineering from WMU recognised maritime University and had my cadet ship in PCTC vessel for 12 months. what else qualities should I have for this post? Most importantly I want to know the contract procedure for this post( meaning for how many months on & off). Mam, humbly expecting your precious information & guidance. Thank you mam.

  49. I am 56 year old male can I apply for a position on cruise ship

    • Although there isn’t an official age maximum to work on a cruise ship, many cruise ship jobs tend to favour applicants between 21 to 35 years old. There are some jobs onboard that have more mature crew. Enrichment Lecturer, Art Auctioneer, Cruise Sales Manager, Port and Shopping Guide are all positions that you may find better luck in applying for.

  50. I have a question regarding medical accepted process how much time it will take to reply that medical is accepted. I ask with a same man how send medical form to me but did not get reply please let me know.

    • Most cruise lines have their own medical questionaire and forms that need to be completed by an authorized maritime medical practitioner. Once the tests are completed and the forms are completed (fit for work/sea), you must send them to your recruiter. Typically, for first time joiners, once you complete your medical and send your forms, then you wait for an assignment. Keep in touch with your recruiter for status of an assignment.

  51. Hello sir

    My name is jahangir khan
I have applied wid rccl for assistant waiter position on 5th August of 2015 and i got a invitation for preliminary interview wd their representatives through skype at 8 August
After preliminary i hv got a email from rccl regarding video introduction uploading due to some technical reasons i couldn’t uploaded my video
After that moment i mailed them for issue…
They told me that u hv already selected for the final interview. U may disregard the video upload. Next is your final interview with our regional recruiter.
    Please check ur email constantly

    But
After that m awaiting for the final interview but no one contacted me for further process….

    Thank u in advance

      • Hello

        Thanks for replying me

Actually so many time i have been trying to contact and talk with royal Caribbean Regional recruiter but they always told me that they cannot help for any online application

I just wanted to know whats the maximum time take between intiwl interview and final interview

One day i have tried to touch recruiting officer who took my skype interview…..
        She told me
U already done with preliminary and i will keep u posted when the waiter position available we’ll contact u immediately

The waiter position is on hold……

        • The waiting process can be frustrating and requires tons of patience. Cruise line recruiters must sift through thousands of applications and many applicants don’t even get a first interview. Considering that you’ve had one interview, you are ahead of many others. Don’t be too pushy with the recruiters because this may annoy and make them change their mind. You do need to be somewhat persistent by keeping in touch, though. Emailing rather than phoning tends to work best. Always be polite, keeping them aware that you are still interested in the waiter position and your excitement to work for Royal Caribbean. With each email that you send, give them a new piece of info about yourself such as recent training, validity of your passport, your knowledge of USPH, etc. Even though they say the waiter position is on hold, they are always hiring…it is the applicants that continue to keep in contact with them that will get the job when they have it to offer. Don’t give up.

          • Hello sir/madam

I m so thankfull to you for helping mr alot.
As ur instructions i had mailed them by mentioning my training and usph research experience… Afyer that i got a final interview invitation mail from them.
It schedule on jan 20 at 10:40am spain time.

But now m so scared about interview. What type of questions they would ask in final interview.

Would they ask about different cuisines or food technology?

Plz help me I’m so scared about interview

Can u plz guide me what type of questions will come

I hv applied for assistant waiter position with royal Caribbean cruise

            Thank you

          • I can understand that you are scared because you want to do well, but you are worried that you won’t be prepared. Please try not to be scared. Having a successful interview will depend on how prepared you are. Be confident that you will do well. You have made it to the final interview. They really do like you and think you are capable of working for them. As far as specific questions, they are still trying to figure out if you are the most suitable for the job. For the job as an Assistant Waiter, think of the following topics they might explore. They want to know that you can work in a fast-paced environment (how many tables can you handle, what’s the biggest kitchen/galley you’ve worked in…). They want to know you have excellent food knowledge (different cuisines, how a dish is made, what certain foods are…). Here’s a link to some Royal Caribbean Menus, for additional info. Describe how you would provide exceptional guest service (friendly, know the menu to provide suggestions, know about food allergies…). Get to know as much as you can about Royal Caribbean. Are you interviewing for a position with Royal Caribbean International (the cruise line) or with Royal Caribbean Cruise Line (the parent company of Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, Azamara Club Cruises, and Pullmantur). Get to know which new ships are coming out and identify why you would want to work for their company in particular. Additionally, make sure the interviewer know that you are familiar with life onboard a cruise ship. This is actually one of their biggest concerns. Working and living at sea is so different from a job on land. You are away from family and friends for 6 to 10 months at a time (the crew become your new family). You must work well with crew from many other countries, cultures and religions. You will share a cabin with one or more other crewmembers. During your interview, demonstrate confidence, energy, and make sure to smile. good luck!

  52. Wanted to know usual how long does the royal carribean take to answer the candidates of their interview results. And how long does they take to inform if the result was negative or do they inform by email or through hiring partner to the candidates. I have passed 3 weeks since I completed my final interview and the dept Manager concluded with the ending notes “see you on one of our fleet soon”.when do they usual end interview with these words when its positive or for all candidates.
    Please answer this confusion.

    • If you still haven’t heard from them, I would suggest you sending an email to inquire the status. It’s not unusual for candidates to slip through the cracks. Applicants need to take the initiative to keep their name in front of the recruiter, even if you have had such a positive interview experience. State that you are still interested and thank them again for the interview. Mention your experience and other relevant details that make you stand out as an ideal candidate for the position.

      • What is the difference between slot tehnician and slot tehnician trainee?

        • On the Carnival Corporation casino website, they state the following:
Slot Technicians: We are looking for experienced electronic engineers who have a minimum of one years experience in their field to repair and maintain slot machines onboard.
Trainee Casino Technicians: We require applicants to have at least six months minimal electrical / mechanical background for this entry level position. You will be hired and paid according to your experience and qualifications.

  53. I have completed my final round of interview at the hiring office on skype with HR Manager and Dept Manager for security.
Waiting for last 3 weeks I did not received any answer.
Please help me to know how long does it take for royal carribean recruiters to reply me if it was positive or negative results.

    • I would suggest you sending an email to inquire the status. State that you are still interested and thank them again for the interview. Mention your experience and other relevant details that make you stand out as an ideal candidate for the position.

      • I good day!
I can’t post my comments so i decided to reply in this conversation

  54. hole my name is haftu i am working ship celebrity circus ,i am from Ethiopian so in Ethiopian we don’t have agent haring partner, i have my travel agent .so i was think to open haring partner? ??? how i can get the Emil for haring partner ?

  55. Dear Renee ,
    Good day
Are there are any job placements for maritime security armed guards (anti piracy) onboard cruise liners via global recruiting agencies
    Thanks and best regards
    Manuel Bastian

    • Cruise ships employ security personnel onboard. You should apply through an authorized recruiter in your region.

  56. Dear Sir,

Yesterday I got a mail from NCL which was stating that I’m selected & it was attached with my offer letter, my job description, grooming guide, drug & alchohol rules, crew data form & ocean pay card details.

They told me to read everything and return a signed copy of offer letter, passport copy, visa, crew data form.

I signed my offer letter and returned it. But I dont have my passport, as it is in process. I couldnt apply for visas & was not able to fill crew data form.

I want to know….at the time of my interview I clearly mentioned that I will be available from 15 Jan 2016 & I need time for document work.

Why they are asking for it now???

I told them clearly during my interview that I need time for my document work.

    What should I do??

    • Don’t worry. good job in sending back your offer letter and I’m sure you politely let them know that you are still in the process of getting your passport and other documents. As soon as you get your passport then start to apply for the visa. You will need a copy of the offer of employment to apply for the visa which doesn’t take too long. Recruiters from cruise lines understand that many potential crew need to give proper notice when leaving their old job as well as getting documents in order.

  57. I just need to know is same cruises company in future do some interview in Los Angeles. for hotel beverage yob and if yes when ?

    • Most cruise lines use a global network of hiring partners, offering interviews worldwide. Many cruise lines also use skype for interviews. If you live in Los Angeles, you could try applying with Princess Cruises. They have their head office in Santa Clarita.

  58. I live in NYC, NY, and I am interested in applying for the position at the cruise terminal that check guests in prior to boarding the ship. I checked the terminal and all the cruise lines but have not been able to find the position. Do you know the process for applying for the position?

    • I’m not sure exactly. Check-in positions within the cruise terminal are shoreside jobs, not shipboard jobs. You would still apply directly with the cruise line, but through any shoreside/land-based jobs. you could try bringing your resume/cover letter to the cruise terminal on a day that a cruise ship is in port. Then find a supervisor in charge of the shoreside agents. You could also try getting intouch with the “port agent” of the port. Check the cruise terminal website for contact info.

  59. Yesterday I got a mail from NCL that I’m selected. They sent me details of my salary, position I’m selected for & duration I have to work onboard.

I’ve accepted that offer and replied for the same.

I want to know from here how much time it will take.

    • Congratulations! Unfortunately, this time varies as well. At this point, they should be informing you that you will need to get your C1D Visa as well as a medical. Keep in contact with them, and find out which steps you should be taking.

  60. Dear Sir,

I have applied for Norwegian Cruise Line through there website for Stateroom Steward. I got an email from Miami regarding my Skype Interview which was going to held on 6th of November. It went really well, it took around 30mins.

They told me I’ll get an email by 10th of November but I didnt get any mail from there side, which will state that if i’m selected or not.

I want to know now how much time it will take.

    • The time it takes to hear anything, varies. Make sure to send them an email, inquiring about the status of their decision. In the email, thank them for the initial interview, express your interest in working for their company, and state why you feel that you are ideal for the job. Applicants that continue to follow up throughout the hiring process are the ones that get the job.

  61. Our organization holds an annual audition for summer theatres in January. Approximately 300-350 mostly college students audition in acting, singing, dance and stage combat. I am wondering whether the cruise industry would be interested in hiring through these auditions. Complete information about these auditions is on our website.
    –Michael Hardy, Director

    • Hi Michael, thanks for the information which I’ll leave on this forum, for those interested. As far as I know, cruise lines typically work with a select number of authorized casting companies or they audition in-house. I try to list most of these auditions on this website as a hub for those interested in finding cruise ship work.

  62. Dear Sir/ Ma’am,

    Good day to you!
I am a doctor from Myanmar with 3 years and 8 months of experience in emergency medicine.
I have valid certificates of BLS(AHA), ACLS(AHA), ITLS, PTC, EMR-1 and EMR-2 Certificates.
I can speak English and Burmese fluently.
Could you please tell me how can I get a cruise doctor job in Myanmar or other foreign countries?

  63. Dear sir/madam,

I would like to apply for Avalon river cruise in europe.Where do I have to apply?
Thank you for your attention and I am looking forward to hear from you soon

  64. How are you!

I already did my final interview for snack attendant but I did not make it.but I do have experience as a barista and I would liketo re apply again on the ctrac account.but when I try to re apply again the account tells me to go to the recruiter how can I be able to re apply online again as I did it before without goin to any agent.I prefer online than using the agents.how can I be considerd because I have that passion to work onboard as I like working in a challenging enviroment. Thank you in advance

    • It’s possible that when you apply, you are creating an account so that RCCL can track when and what you apply for. Since RCCL works with a global network of hiring partners, they rely on those agents to assist with the recruitment process. You may not have a choice, than to get in contact with one of their approved hiring partners or referral partners.

  65. Dear Sir,
I have recently attended Royal Caribbean Cruise Line skype interview and qualified for the final interview. I had applied for the Housekeeping Cleaner job. My first skype interview was good and was attended on October 18, 2015, now I have my final Interview in first week of November. I would like to know the details information as what they will ask, how many people and who (position) are going to conduct the skype interview. I am bit nervous right now as I don’t want to loose this opportunity. Thanks in advance.

    • Although I don’t know the specifics of what your final interview will be like and who will be conducting the interview, I can give you some insight. Throughout the interview process, recruiters are not only looking at your work experience and your resume in general, they are also looking to see if you will be a good fit with the RCCL brands. You need to WOW them at this stage. Impress them by demonstrating your knowledge of their Gold Anchor Standards. Emphasize that you are a hardworker and understand that you will be working 7 days a week for many months, and with a multinational/multicultural crew. Most importantly, brush up on your knowledge of USPH and the CDC’s Vessel Sanitation Program, as all crew are expected to follow these guidelines as related to their jobs. If you’ve made it to the final interview, you want to prove that you are the most qualified and the best person for the job. Good luck!!

  66. Hello.

My name is Paul Nica. I’m currently 17 years old. I live in UK but I originary from Romania. After I will finish college, I would like to study Marine Academy, in order to work as an Environmental Health Officer on cruise ships. My first question is, is it ok if I will study Marine Academy in order to work as an Environmental Health Officer or I need to study something else. My second question is that, can I be accepted to work on a cruise ship if I would have a tatoo that covers all my forearm?

    Thank you very much.

  67. Thank you so much for answering my question.b blessed.

  68. haloo.
I jst did my final interview with rccl and I did not make it as a waitress but I do hv experience as a barista can I be able to re apply again.thank you in advance.please advice me on the recruter who wil help me out.

    • Congratulations on even getting an interview. Consider that some applicants don’t make it that far. Although you may not know why you were not hired for a waitress job, try to understand what you could have done better in the interview or what specifics that kept you from getting hired. For you to have got to a final interview stage means that you probably have the experience (maybe not as much as they wanted). There are plenty of other reasons for waitresses to not pass the final interview stage. Recruiters are looking for applicants that show to be energetic, smile, know how to upsell, knowledge of USPH, not afraid to work long hours, and have good English communication skills. By all means, you should reapply as a barista, bar server, or snack attendant. You can apply on Royal Caribbean’s online application. But also contact one of RCCL’s hiring partners in your region.

  69. hello dear Sir/Mam im mukesh i want to work on cruise ship i dont have any exp of cruise ship i was work on livestock i have only five month exp as OS can i apply for any job on cruise ship please help me
please tell me what i do n send me your reply on my email id please thank you

    • You don’t need cruise ship experience to work on a cruise ship. You just need some transferable skills. Think of what type of job you’d like to do onboard and then construct a resume that reflects the skills that you have that would make you ideal for the job. Recruiters don’t want to see an application/resume that says you’ll do ANY job, they want to see that you are applying for a specific job that you feel are most suited for. Most cruise lines also work with a global network of hiring partners to assist with their recruitment needs. Contact an agency in your region.

    • Hello Dear Sir/Mam thank you for your help n one more think is that they want money y they all need money dear

      • You need to apply ONLY with authorized cruise line recruiters. They are NOT allowed to charge for their services to find you a job.

    • Hello dear Mam how are you Mam do you know any company who provide a job of without money on cruise ship if you know please tell me Mam thank you for your help

  70. I want to apply for a clean job on the ship but I have 2 year experience at a restaurant you think they would hire me

  71. Good eve. I’m planning to apply in RCCL as a dancer, but i have Hernia and i’ve been dancing for ten years with this condition, and i dont have problem with it. Will i still be able to work with RCCL if i have hernia? Hope that you could help me with this. Thank you and more power.

    • Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises use an audition process to cast their dancers. If you pass the audition and are offered a job, then you will need to get your medical done. If the hernia does not affect your performance (and you mention to the doctor that you’ve had a hernia in the past) then there shouldn’t be a problem with getting hired. Although, once you are onboard and it causes a problem that effects your performance and you need to be sent home, then it may not be likely you’ll be offered another contract. Here are a couple links to Royal Caribbean Auditions and Celebrity Cruises Auditions.

  72. do seaman book is require to join the ncl cruise in port of Miami.as i don’t have but visa, med rest i have …..is seaman book is very important when we join cruise….. if yes where can i apply in dubai

    • Typically, you don’t need a seaman’s book to apply for a cruise ship job. Nor do you need one to join your first contract. The seaman’s book is a type of documentation (in the form of a small book) that records all your sea time/contracts. It is stamped by an authority on the cruise ship (crew office or Captain) as a way to prove to authorities that you are a professional seafarer. For more info, The best thing to do is to ask your recruiter. Are you already hired and joining an NCL ship in Miami. Generally, to join a ship, all you need is your Immigration Letter (showing flights and hotel arrangements), passport, C1D Visa and medical. Norwegian Cruise Line uses Odyssey International as their authorized recruiter in UAE. Contact them for additional info.

  73. Good Day! I would like to apply as a Nurse on any of your Cruise Ships. I have 4 years of experience back in the Philippines 1 year of that experience was in Surgical Ward exposure ad the rest of the 3 years was spent in Intensive Care unit. I’m currently working in Singapore as a Staff Nurse in S.I.C.U. It would be greatly appreciated if i would get a reply. I also want to know details on how to apply on the said profession if there is any way i can apply online or if u have any office in singapore that i can drop by and visit to know the requirements needed. Thank you.

  74. My grandson Michael Stout, recently completed an advanced course through Bethany College, Lindsborg, Ks. and received certification in Digital Film Making. He is currently doing a number of photography jobs but, when he turns 21 on December 29th, he is very interested in applying his talents ship board. Are there positions available and how does one apply ? Thank you very much….

    • Although some cruise lines hire in-house for the position of Photographer, some use a concessionaire to manage that department. Here’s a link to the article, How to Apply as a Cruise Ship Photographer.

      • hii mam I ws selected for ncl as restraunt steward but my us viza had been rejected is thr any options of viza is thr

  75. I was wondering if you know when Royal Caribbean is going to start their final interview? I have recieved an email on Aug 28 about their website being down and then trying to fix it to hurry up on the final interview process. I just hope that I am not lost in the shuffle because I can’t email them and findout anything. Thank you

  76. good evening… for doctors or medical department how can i contact because normally they have different company in charge or if is possible to apply for crew doctor only.
    thanks

  77. Hello dear head! You wrote to Sergey from Russia from the city of Rostov-on-don. I have a question for you working plan. Can I do with education in navigation engineering to get a job on a cruise liner in the training program as a cadet or you can consider me in a different capacity. I finished secondary and higher education institution for Maritime profession. I have a diploma of higher education. All documents for work as the assistant captain are on hand. I would be very grateful if you will assist you in finding employment. Thanks in advance.

  78. Respected Sir/Madam,
I have recently completed myy B.sc in nautical science from B.P.Marine Academy and I wish to complet my cadetship , i.e. 12 months of training onboard with a cruise line .
How can i apply for job in Cruise line ?

  79. I am interested in working on a cruise line in the security department. I am a retiree from the US Navy and have a heavy maritime experience history dating back over 20 years. Could you possibly connect me with a rep that could possibly get me a site preferably out of southern Florida. I live in West Palm Beach currently.

    • You say that you want to be out of Southern Florida because you live in West Palm Beach. Generally, when you work on a cruise ship, the cruise line you are working for will fly you to the ship you are contracted to be on. Unfortunately when you work for a major cruise line, you can’t request to be on a certain ship because of the proximity to a particular port. You have to go where they send you. If you require to be close to Southern Florida you may want to apply to the companies that concentrate on Florida. Disney Cruise Line has four ships and primarily sails out of Port Canaveral. You could try them. They use a global network of hiring partners to assist with their recruitment needs. Their agency in the US is Cast-a-Way Cruise Resort Hiring. Another alternative is Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line (previously called Celebration Cruise Line). Here’s a link tho their website. This company is out of West Palm Beach (where you are from!).

  80. Hi good day! where i can be able to apply for broadcast / electronics engineering career? im currently working here abroad (land based) as a broadcast engineer and i wanted to pursue my career on-board on a cruise ships. any suggestions please?

    Thank you so much.

    • Having background as an electronics engineer, you can look at a couple different options. An electronics engineer on a cruise ship you would be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the electrical plants and associated systems. Consider that cruise ships are technologically advanced and you would be ensuring things such as the powered safety navigation systems to the elevators are working properly and safely at all times. This job falls under the Technical Department, headed up by the Chief Engineer. To apply for jobs such as these, read How to Apply as a Cruise Ship Engineering Officer. You could also consider jobs such as a Broadcast Technician. that type of cruise ship job falls under the Entertainment Department, headed up by the Cruise Director. Here’s a link to the Broadcast Technician job that is currently being recruited for by Royal Caribbean.

  81. Dear Sir/Madam
i am looking security guard job in cruise, i am from Nepal, I have already passed intermediate from Nepal,I have more then 10 years work experience at Nepal police as a post of police constable so i have lot of experience in field of security.

      • Hii good afternoon my name is Jonathan im from guyana an I’m very infested in applying for a job on a cruise line but i don’t know where to go can u please inform where to go in Guyana to apply

        • Hi Jonathan, you could try Selection Partners. Although the office is located in Argentina, Selection Partners is Princess Cruises’ recruitment partner for all of South America. Additionally, you could try Viking Recruitment. Being that Guyana has ties to the UK, you may be able to apply through one of their offices. They are the recruitment partner for Holland America and Seabourn. Royal Caribbean used to have a hiring partner in Guyana, but it looks like they’ve discontinued the link on their employment pages. Please be careful to only use hiring partners that are approved by the cruise lines. Legitimate agencies will not charge you to apply or find you a job.

  82. my name is Amine Moubarik , from Morocco, could you kindly please tell me how to apply for the gift shop attendant with princesse cruises as it always was my dream to be a part of princesse team.

I have long experience in shop with MSC and PULLMANTUR cruises

  83. Hi! What cruise lines are hiring Nicaraguans. I´ve heard about Royal Caribbean not hiring any Nicaraguans. I am a Nicaraguan and I’m interested in applying for a job.

    • RCCL used to hire nationals from Nicaragua, but it appears that they no longer do. I found a new listing for an agency in Nicaragua that Disney Cruise Line uses as their procurement ally. I have posted it on the Cruise Line Hiring Partners in Nicaragua page of this website.

  84. Is there any hiring partners in abu dhabi or dubai ???
i tried the Directory of Cruise line Hiring Partners , found in UAE
but couldn’t open the page ?

    • Thanks for pointing out that you couldn’t ope the page. It seems when I made some updates to the hiring partners directory, it affected all my links. I’ve since fixed the links that you were trying to look at. Here is the link to Hiring Partners in UAE.

  85. Good day, I was working last year as a snack attendant in Celebrity Cruises – Royal Caribbean but a had médical problems so they sent me to home for médical and when they gave me fit for duty I decided not to return because the work in the ship in my position was Really Hard and I was not ready as the doctor said. So I decided to Apply again but in a different position as a photographer with a company that actually provide photography service in the ship.

My question is: Could be possible that Royal Caribbean not let me work with that company ? Im nervous because I had a good performance in the company but I dont know If Im in a Blacklist because I didn’t come back after my medical.

what can you say me about this situation.

Thanks a lot for your help.

    • Your experience (and good performance) working for Royal Caribbean will actually be an asset to your application with Image Group. You shouldn’t be black listed for being sent home for medical reasons, although you will still need to pass a medical to work with Image Group.

  86. i need a job in any position , im from Ecuador i speak english… and im a hard worker .. is any posibilities for my to have a job

    • Although I don’t know of any hiring agency specifically in Ecuador, you may want to try contacting the authorized agencies in Peru. When applying, you need specify which cruise ship job you are applying for. Recruiters want you to only apply for a job that you are most qualified for. Make sure your resume and cover letter also reflect which job you are applying for.

  87. Hello, I’m James. What’s the salary cycle of the cruise ship job?

    • Starting salaries vary with the type of job, the amount of experience you have coming into the job, and also which country you come from. Additionally, some jobs rely heavily on tips or commissions. Benefits may also vary from cruise line to cruise line and from job to job.

      • Thank you for your reply :-) I was actually looking for the time period of the salary. For instance, end of every month, daily, weekly or 10th or 15th of every month.

        Thanks

        • This varies with each cruise line, but typically it is once per month.

      • Can yu let me know if der Is tattoo on our body can we join the cruise, n plzzzz suggest me a good consultancy who will help me out for dis, waiting for soonest, thank yu

        • Many of the cruise lines have a policy for appearance standards that is similar to Royal Caribbean which is, “In order to portray a professional and hospitable image, we ask our employees to cover any visible tattoos when in uniform.”

  88. hi I appreciate your good work. I passed all my interviews with royal Caribbean but failed the final interview because I have some little tattoo. could they have blacklisted me? am contemplating on erasing the tattoo and apply again.

    • I doubt that they would “blacklist” you. Did the recruiter actually say that the reason you didn’t pass your final interview was because of the tattoo? If so, they would probably keep in your file that the reason you failed your final interview was because of a tattoo. If you do erase the tattoo, definitely re-contact the recruiter and let them know that you got rid of your tattoo. I think that this shows how serious you are about getting a job with them. Which cruise job did you apply for?

  89. Hi

  91. Hi,

I have applied for Stage stuff with Royal Caribbean, I have got through 2 telephone interviews one with someone from recruitment from UK and another from the office in Miami. I have just received an email asking if I am free on Monday to have a telephone interview with someone from HR… Does anyone know what I am going to be asked as I like to be prepared or will it be exactly the same as the other two interviews? Also how long after do you find out if you have the job?

    Thank you

    • Sorry for the late response. Hopefully your telephone interview went well and you’ve been offered a contract. Let me know if you have any further questions.

  94. Hi. Can you please tell me how can I become an authorized recruitment partner for these ship companies.

    • You would need to contact the cruise lines directly.

  95. Hi,
First of all, thanks for the blog, is very useful.
Secondly, do you know any recruitment agency in the UK? (England) And also, if it’s possible that I can get a contract for 2 months or so ? I’ve heard that on some positions you are more likely to get hired for this kind of period, and where they might not be so demanding regarding experience.. do you know which ones?
    Best.

    • here is a list of hiring partners in the UK. Generally contracts are from 6 to 9 months in length. It depend on the position you are applying for. Youth Staff positions are one of the only positions that I know where they hire seasonal staff. You could also try Kings Recruit in the UK

  96. Dear Renee Ruggero
    Greetings of the day!

I am Naveen from India, i am 22 years old i applied in through http://www.rclctrac.com then i gave 1st round trough skype then they told me to make a introduction video of myself and upload it on same website rclctrac.com yesterday i got an appointment for 3rd round through skype on 29th july 2015 at 1pm spain time the recruiter name is Juliana Rabbi i think its my last round. i just want to know what would be the next step after this, when i google about Juliana Rabbi she is recruitment partner for Pullmantur cruise and do this websites rclctrac.com is authorised website from Royal Caribbean Cruise company. and how long does it take for obtaining visa and what about the travelling expenses from my home country to joining port do i have to pay myself for my air tickets.

    thanks in advanced :

    • It certainly seems that they are interested in you. Congratulations. Pullmantur is one of the brands operated by RCCL. Typically, RCCL pays your joining expenses such as airfare and hotel prior to joining. They will provide you with a letter of employment that you will take to a US Embassy in your country of residence to apply for your visa. You are responsible for the costs of getting the C1D1 VISA. Your hiring partner will also let you know of an approved doctor that you will need to see to get your pre-employment medical done (another cost you will probably have to cover yourself). The visa takes a few days to get and the medical usually takes one or two days to complete.

      • Its not true rccl don’t pay any airfare… I know because I been on rccl. I was so upset. Agency said we have to pay our on airfare its cost almost a lac in Indian rupees. And afafter that when you go on board we hv to buy our duty uniform. Company change me almost 120 $ I was so upset because of all this thing. If the agency told me before I would have not gone in the bagger company. …. my previous company is much more good than rccl. I thought my future will be good now when I went to rccl but no. I just wanted to tell you’ll guys who ever wanted to go in rccl please make sure. If you’ll going through agency ask the procedure first before youll sign the contract. .. Please don’t do mistake which I did. ..

        • Thank you for your comments. Here is the link to Royal Caribbean’s FAQ for potential crewmembers. This is what they say about airfare, “Depending on your location and the ship’s location, you may fly to the nearest airport. In most cases, this will be at the crewmembers’ expense for the first contract.” And, this is what they say about uniforms, “As a team, we like to project a consistent and professional image; this is why we have carefully chosen a uniform for each position onboard. Uniforms will be provided onboard, and though the cost will be subsidized by the company, some crew members must purchase part of their uniforms as well. Your recruiter will discuss this with you in more detail.”
As Clifton has advised, please check with your recruiter if you are unclear as to what expenses need to be covered by the crewmember.

    • Helloo.
Maybe you can help me, I have some trouble with uploading my introducing video on Royal web site. I dont know where exactly I can upload the video. Please help me in this problem. Thank you in advance.

      • Are you referring to a Talent Video required for an application for an entertainment job. If so, then go to Royal Caribbean’s entertainment website and click “Launch” on their “Submit Talent Information” box. You’ll see the box “Talent Video”. They require an URL link to a video. If you have a talent video posted online (i.e. on YouTube or Vimeo) this is where you enter the URL address.

    • hi. good day. i was also ask to make a video introduction. but i cant upload it to my rclctrac account because i cant fin the upload link for the video. can you help me with this. thanks your answer is highly . :)

        • Dear Renee,
I am looking for a job for my brother, who is 35 yrs of age.
Currently he works as a Senior Customer Executive at one of the call centers in India. He has good communication skills in English..also he is good at computers.
Let me know if you can help me finding a suitable position for him at any of the cruise liners.
Hoping to hear from you soon.
          Thanks and regards……Salomi!

          • There are plenty of cruise ship jobs for applicants that have good English skills and customer service experience. My advice to him is to contact one of the authorized hiring partners in India, where he can send his resume.
